Each Learning at Home Pack in Series Three, supports parents and caregivers by providing learning activities that maintain the learning of children when they are unable to attend school or for children who need more practice at home. Created for children who are working at the emergent - beginning Level 1 through to Level 4, they are also perfect resources for relief teachers.

Suzi de Gouveia is an accomplished educator with over 40 years of teaching experience. After spending 18.5 years as principal of St Teresa’s School in Christchurch, New Zealand, she had a brief retirement before realising this lifestyle wasn’t for her. Missing the vibrant energy and daily action of the classroom, she has returned to teaching part-time. Throughout her career, Suzi has developed a wealth of innovative ideas and resources dedicated to enhancing students’ learning. She continues to bring that same passion and expertise to the school environment today.

Jackie Andrews is the principal of St Teresa’s Primary School, Christchurch, New Zealand, where for the last 10 years she has enjoyed teaching and learning alongside students she describes as “the most fabulous little people”. Her classroom experience, combined with her leadership role, continues to shape the practical, supportive resources she creates for busy educators to make teaching manageable, engaging and effective. Her 75+ educational titles across mathematics, English and curriculum planning are widely used in schools. As schools work through ongoing curriculum changes, Jackie is particularly passionate about creating resources that help teachers make sense of new expectations and confidently support learning so that students experience success in the classroom. Outside of education, Jackie’s greatest joy has been watching her own children grow up and begin to spread their wings.

Jude brings a wealth of professional expertise and creative insight to the Essential Resources writing team for mathematics.

Frances Adlam, a highly experienced and creative educator and therapist, has 20 years of teaching experience, is considered a “gifted teacher” by many, and for over 15 years has been involved in teaching the arts, creativity, multiple intelligences and working with creatively gifted children. She has lectured in New Zealand and been an adviser for teachers in the aforementioned areas. She is also a published children’s author, a dancer and a playwright. She currently works as an educator and therapist for children in her private practice, Out of the Box, where she specialises in working with children who are on the spectra of dyslexia, ADHD, Asperger’s syndrome and autism. Marie Langley’s experience in education includes 19 years teaching in secondary and area (Years 1 to 13) schools, 10 years as head of an English department, and seven years as a deputy principal. Her published works include a thesis for a Master of Teaching and Learning degree, magazine articles, short stories, poetry, picture books, a junior novel and numerous educational resource texts. She currently lives and works in Golden Bay in the top north-west corner of the South Island of New Zealand.

Julia Burton holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Otago University, New Zealand. She later completed her Postgraduate Diploma of Teaching (Secondary) at Victoria University. Julia taught science and chemistry at Upper Hutt College before taking time out to raise her children. She now works as a structured literacy tutor, combining her love of language, science, and teaching to support young learners and develop high-quality educational resources.
