Teaching Media Literacy through: Relationships
This Teaching Media Literacy through Contemporary Issues title explores relationships. Real life relationships are complicated things, but the media often makes them look not just easy but prescribed. Although media is becoming more inclusive in its portrayals of relationships generally, it still gives a simple, across-the-board view of how things are (or should be), so it makes sense to take a step back and think about how different real life is to what is presented in media.
This resource contains three sections, each exploring a different type of relationship. Friendship - looks at what people through history, and up to modern times, have had to say about friendship. Families - asks the question: Do Sitcom families really represent ordinary families? Romance - explores that time-honoured institution of the romantic comedy.
