The Discovering Aotearoa New Zealand series supports our tamariki to learn more about the history of Aotearoa and its relevance in their lives.  

In completing the activities within this primary school resource, students | ākonga become more aware of their own sense of identity. Importantly, the activities also develop inquiry and analytical skills that ākonga will need to tackle the societal challenges they will face in their future.  

This third book supports those in Years 4-6 to develop understanding of our colonial history, the origins of different ethnic groups in Aotearoa New Zealand, and our rights and responsibilities as New Zealanders and global citizens. It offers imaginative activities designed to engage ākonga in the Aotearoa New Zealand history curriculum while also developing their literacy and numeracy skills.
