In completing the activities on the people of Aotearoa New Zealand in the past and present, and how we are connected to each other, ākonga become more aware of their own sense of identity. Importantly, the activities also develop inquiry and analytical skills that ākonga need to tackle societal challenges in the future.
This second book supports those in Years 1 to 3 to build understanding of the people, history and stories of Aotearoa New Zealand and the place of ākonga – as well as their classmates, families and whānau – within the motu | country. It offers imaginative activities in the social sciences learning area that also develop reading and writing skills.
